The 5 Rights (EMS) & Authority

Standing Orders vs Medical Control (varies by region)

  • Typically Standing Orders: Oxygen, Oral Glucose, Aspirin, Naloxone (IN/auto-injector), Epinephrine (auto-injector).
  • Often Call-In / Online Medical Direction: Nitroglycerin (assist with patient’s Rx), Bronchodilator Inhalers/Nebulized Albuterol (assist with patient’s Rx), Activated Charcoal (if carried).

Always follow your state, local, and agency protocols. This trainer illustrates common patterns but is not a substitute for your medical director’s guidance.
